Last Friday, Seminole County kicked off their football season with a scrimmage against Shaw in Columbus. After an interception at the goal line, Ellis Denham, Terry Daniels, and Kamauri Johnson were able to catch up to the person who caught the football at the 8 yard line. The defense had some great stops, and only gave up 9 points. Nathan Landing, Offensive Lineman and Left Tackle, stated that, “Our Offensive Line improved a lot and opened up some holes for the running backs. Pass protection was good as we allowed zero sacks.” Coach Al Rumble also stated that, “Physicality goes a long way.” Physicality can be the difference in winning or losing in football. Seminole ultimately ended up beating Shaw 17-9. Drew Hornsby, Quarterback, said, “We gave a lot of effort Friday night. We are showing signs of a great season.” Way to go Indians!

This Friday, the Indians play a home game against Kendrick. When asked about the upcoming game, Coach Stegall gave these words:

Our challenges on Friday will be containing a very athletic and experienced quarterback as well as taking on Kendrick, a AA team.  Defensively it will be important to not just make hits but sound tackling to give our offense the opportunity for good field position to make plays.  We need to play a solid game in all phases of the game.  Our staff is extremely proud of our boys in last week's scrimmage. We played well in all areas and our scrimmage gave us the chance to focus on weaknesses and improve our strengths.  This year's Indians have a new attitude.

The student section theme for Friday night’s game is Hawiian. We are saying “Aloha” to the football season! We hope to see everyone there showing their Indian pride!
