Toys for Tots
In 1947, Toys for Tots began with just one person who wanted to make a difference in the lives of children. Diane loved making dolls, and so she asked her husband, Marine Corp Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, to make sure that they went to children who would really benefit from them. That is how the Toys for Tots Organization began. The following year, the Commandant wanted to make it a nationwide initiative. Many organizations now take part in collecting and distributing toys for the Toys for Tots program across the country. Toys for Tots will be set up at the front office at SCMHS, the Harvest Festival, and the Christmas Parade. If you would like to donate a toy, all the toys collected will stay within this county. You may donate toys in the collection box in front of the front office at SCMHS up to Christmas Break.
