The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors writing competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics. This prestigious competition has been engaging Georgia students for more than two decades and is open to any student currently enrolled in Georgia public schools, grades K -12. The competition is sponsored by the Georgia Language Arts Supervisors (GLAS) and the Georgia RESA Network with support from the Georgia Department of Education.
SCMHS is proud to recognize these students for their achievement in writing!

On Thursday, February 13th, Work-Based Learning (WBL) student Hannah Snider, along with Assistant Principal Jessica Lanier, had the honor of delivering heartfelt Valentine's Day cards to several local nursing homes. These cards were carefully created by the students and staff of Seminole County Middle/High School, each one filled with messages of warmth, kindness, and love. The initiative not only spread joy to the residents but also gave our students a meaningful opportunity to engage in community service and show their appreciation for the elderly. This act of giving reflects the compassionate spirit of our school and serves as a reminder of the positive impact we can make when we come together to share moments of love and care.

On February 13th, 2025, Sophomores attended the Southeast Worlds of Work (WOW) Career Expo in Dothan, AL. The event is an excellent way for students to become familiar with an overview of high-demand, high-wage career opportunities that are available in our region. It is also designed to create awareness about exciting career options among students and educators that address the current workforce needs. Businesses and community colleges from the Southeast Alabama area were in attendance to discuss career opportunities and programs with our students. We had such a fun time! A special thank you to Mr. Daniel Dukes, Mrs. Crystal Milner, Dr. Whitney Fulford, Mr. Mitch Royals, Mrs. Haley Rykard, and Mrs. Kimber Sellers for chaperoning the trip and making this a memorable event.

We love SCMHS!!!
